New Chanel Perles Et Fantaisies Illuminating Powder First Impressions

Hi all!

Today I’ll be showing you guys the new Chanel Perles Fantaisies Illuminating Powder.  From what I understand, this highlighter is sold out on their website BUT will be at Chanel counters momentarily!  I can’t be sure but I would imagine (and have read) that this will likely be sold on Nordstrom & other Chanel carrier websites soon as well.  I wish I knew more about it but I completely bought this on a whim..I actually bought it as a big time reward for myself- I have my huge grad school comprehensive exams on Tuesday..which means that once they’re finished, I’m one giant leap closer to getting my MA!  Yes I’m trying to justify my purchase.

It all started when *cue flashback sequence* the other night I finally thought I had decided on my present: “YES, I’m committing to buying the Dior Nude Air Glowing Gardens Illuminating Powder (yup totally said the whole name in my head) in pink!”  And then I found out it was sold out everywhere.  So I randomly went on Chanel’s website and very quickly found the Dior highlighter’s replacement 🙂

Anyways check out this lil beauty.  Unfortunately I promised myself that I wouldn’t USE it on my face until after my exams, but it looks STUNNING on my hand.  The hand swatches were done in natural light & I put some foundation on my hands as a base because they were looking like a 90 year old’s.  The product retails for $70.
The texture feels incredibly soft but not gelee-like.  The colors & finish are seriously beautiful-I’m a sucker for a feminine pink highlight!  As you’ll see in comparison photos, these are a bit more subtle than some other highlighters (think Becca, Bobbi Brown, Anastasia Beverly Hills) but more prominent than Ambient Lighting Powders (although the sheen truly reminds me the most of these).  Needless to say, I’m very excited to try this on my face!  I’ll probably post a face picture on Wednesday in case you want to check back.

Also…opening this package was probably the most luxurious experience of my life hahaha.

For the record, the brush that came with it is actually super soft & nice!

L to R- the white half, the pink half, and then the two swirled together

These last two were taken with my iphone by the way.  In the last picture, I’ve included some similar colored highlights so that you can get the sense of color/texture.  Top row is chanel then the bottom row L to R-Becca Pearl, Bobbi Brown Pink Glow, Becca Rose Gold.

New Too Faced Love Flush Blush Palette First Impression & Swatches

That’s the longest title ever.  Here’s a REALLY quick first impression of the new Too Faced Love Flush blush wardrobe.  I ordered this a few days ago on the Too Faced website and received it today!  Just in time for Christmas 🙂

The palette features their six Love Flush blush line.  Each blush is 2.0 g-They’re tiny but totally workable!  Don’t shy away from buying this palette because of that!  The blush wardrobe retails for $36.00 on the Too Faced website & shipping is $5.00 but there’s some great promo codes online for 20% off.

The palette features Love Hangover (warm pink), Baby Love (dusty nude w/fine gold sparkle), I Will Always Love You (gilded peach), How Deep is Your Love (watermelon pink), Justify My Love (bright pink w/fine gold sparkle), and Your Love is King (plummy rose)-descriptions via Sephora’s website.

I haven’t been able to test these babies out on my cheeks yet but I have high hopes.  I’ve been wanting to try some of these blushes since they came out, but once I saw they were ALL going to be in one palette, I had to wait it out.  They all feel silky & apply really my arm at least hehe.

All of these photos were taken in indoor lighting.  Thanks for stopping by!

Favorite Nude Lipsticks (Lip Swatches)

Today I’ll be sharing my favorite nude lipsticks with you!  Well not actually sharing…that would be unsanitary.

I love a good nude lip with just about any makeup look.  It’s funny that initially, I didn’t like or have any nude lipstick colors.  But that all changed when I discovered my favorite nude lipstick ever which will be listed below hehe.  It was difficult to get an accurate picture of the lipstick swatches against my pasty computer paper toned arm, so I’ve also included lip swatches!  Feel free to name your favorite nude lips below 🙂

These photos were taken in natural lighting.  For each lip swatch, I lightly lined my lips with Mac’s Stripdown liner.

All of these look strikingly similar, but my mind says they’re all drastically different.  I want to mention that I also enjoy the formulas for all of these lipsticks, but Mac mattes & Tom Ford formulas are my favorite.  On to the lip swatches!  The lip swatches were taken with my phone in natural lighting so the quality isn’t spectacular, but my camera takes far too detailed photos & ain’t nobody wanna see my lips that close.  Names will be listed below pictures.

FullSizeRender (1)

Charlotte Tilbury Nude Kate

Mac Enchanted One-As I’ve mentioned before, it all started with one lipstick.  This is it!  This is my favorite nude & lipstick in general of all time.  It holds a special place in my heart too because I bought it at the airport on my way to Disney World (my college graduation present)

Tom Ford Sable Smoke-Fantastic formula & fantastic color.  One of my absolute favorites.

Mac Viva Glam II-Let’s ignore the fact that these are all starting to look the same.

FullSizeRender (1)1

Mac Blankety

Mac Cherish

Mac Velvet Teddy-This is just getting embarrassing…

Marc Jacobs Role Play-LOOK.  A DIFFERENT ONE.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Pure Hollywood

As you may have seen, I prefer nudes in the same color realm.  But I love all of these nudes & highly recommend them!  Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Luxury Products Worth the Money

Hey guys!  I took these pictures a while ago but didn’t get them up until now because of all of my final papers but…here’s the luxury products I love!  Also sorry about the lighting.  It seems like every time I go to take pictures for my blog, it’s complete butt weather.  I’ll plan better next time!

On to the products.  Everyone classifies luxury in different ways but I’ve decided to go with the prestigious Oxford dictionary’s definition

luxury item-n. item that makes you question your sanity after purchase
used in a sentence: “I just used my Sally Mae loans to buy that luxury item but it’s cool because now I have a new lipstick that’s slightly different than all the others.”

But really these are those types of items that I’m always super uneasy about because what if it ends up sucking?  THE HORROR.  So I’ve compiled a list of items that are well-loved, used often, and are completely worth it!  Feel free to leave your favorite luxury items in the comments 🙂

Chanel Tan De Soleil-$48.00.  This is probably my favorite makeup product…ever.  I use it every day & it’s the best bronzer-powder or cream-I’ve ever used.

Marc Jacobs #Instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder in Mirage Filter-$49.00.  Before this, I used Anastasia Beverly Hill’s banana powder for a long time & was running out.  So I planned on buying a new one but I decided to swatch this side by side that one while in Sephora & it blew me away.  SO much more pigmented and brighter & the texture is seriously out of this world.  The contour is a fantastic shade as well.  Could not recommend this more.

Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in 01-$48.  WHY ARE ALL OF THESE ITEMS $48-9 DOLLARS?  But anyways, I have dry skin and have tried tons of different primers but this one 100% takes the cake.  It gives you the absolute prettiest “glow from within” (gotchu Jaclyn hill) ever.  So. Good.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette-$58.  This is one of those hot ticket items that everybody talks about..and for a reason.  This is another one of those products that just gives you a subtle glow and leaves your skin looking so healthy and pretty.

Nars Audacious Lipstick in Anna ($32), Tom Ford Lipstick in Sable Smoke ($50), and Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Kiss me ($35)- These three lip products take the cake.  The audacious lipsticks probably have one of my favorite formulas ever-super smooth, pigmented, and go on in one swipe.  The Tom Ford lipstick is also fantastic.  The price tag is seriously insane but do what I did and ask for it as a gift :).  I love their formula as well and the shade is perfect.  Dior Fluid Sticks are the best glosses.  I’m not a big lipgloss kind of gal but their formula is insane.  It’s liquidy but stays on your lips?  It’s hard to explain but I highly recommend.

Makeup Forever Eyeshadows-$21 a piece or 3 for $44.  I would venture to say that Makeup Forever has the nicest eyeshadows on the market.  These are the only ones I own because they’re so expensive, but you can’t beat their pigmentation, bendability, or formula.  FORMULA, FORMULA, FORMULA.  Are you picking up on a trend?

YSL Black Opium-$67.00 for 1 oz.  Pretty much all higher end perfumes are around the same price but I had to mention this because it’s my favorite scent.  I can’t describe the smell but you should definitely try it out the next time you see it.  I saw somebody write that it smells like “grown and sexy” and I concur.

That’s it!  I hope you all enjoyed.  Thanks for stopping by 🙂

In the Balm of Your Hand Palette Swatches & Mini Review

Hi again!

So recently I was scrolling through different makeup brands’ holiday releases & stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the Balm’s new releases…

They recently came out with In the Balm of Your Hand which is a palette made up of some of the Balm’s most popular products.  I’ve only ever tried a sample sized “Hot Mama” blush & some of their cream blushes & I’ve always really wanted to try some of their other products.  So this palette was PERFECT.

I ordered this palette from for  $30.39.  The palette’s retail price is $37.99, but if you sign up for Unified Cosmetics’ newsletter, you get a 20% off discount code!  The best part is that the company donates half of its profits toward autism research and to non profit orgs.  I never heard of this brand before finding the palette on their site, but I really like that they sell beauty products for a good cause.  I recommend checking out their site.

So let’s get down to the nitty gritty…this palette includes 3 blushes (Hot Mama, Instain blush in Argyle, Cabana Boy), a bronzer (Bahama Mama), 4 eyeshadows (Insane Jane, Mischievous Marissa, Sexy, and Lead Zeppelin), a highlighter (Mary-Lou Manizer), a cream blush or lipstick (Caramel), and a lipstick (Mia Moors).  I’ve used this palette for the past few days & I seriously love it.  It’s so handy because everything is in one palette.  The only somewhat disappointing shade was “Sexy”; it was a bit rough to the touch but applied nicely to the eye.  If you’ve been interested in trying some of the Balm’s products, you should definitely put this one on your Christmas list 🙂

Ofra Cosmetics Miami Fever Swatch & Quick Review

Hi guys!

So I finally received my Ofra Cosmetics order with Miami Fever!  Miami Fever is the new liquid lipstick that Kathleen Lights created.  If you don’t know who she is, check out her youtube channel-she is so genuine & funny.  One of my favorites!

I LOVE this liquid lipstick.  The price is $19.90 but if you apply “kathleen40” to your order, you get 40% off.  With shipping, the total price was $16.89.  Ofra never sent a shipping confirmation email but HEY I like surprises 🙂

It has a great formula; it’s very comfortable to wear and lasts forever.  For some reason, lipstick just never lasts on me so the longevity was amazing.  One suggestion though: dab your lips with a tissue after it dries.  For some reason, it transfers a bit (but doesn’t smear around your lips).

The color is absolutely perfect.  As Kathleen described, it’s a mixture between red, orange, and brown.  I think it’s one of the most wearable reds I own.  It’s also one of those shades that looks different but great on everyone!  Check out some swatches below!  Sorry that the lip swatch is a little blurry-my screen protector is cracked directly over the camera and now it makes my pictures blurry HAHA so typical.

September 2015 Boxycharm

2 posts within a week span?!  What is this nonsense!

I’m back today to show you my September 2015 Boxycharm.  I admit that I looked up all of the spoilers for this month’s box & was pretty excited about its contents.  Check it out!

086 087 088 089 091 092 094 095

Overall, I think this is a great box (although I preferred last month’s box).  OF COURSE I happened to throw away the paper that explains each item, its cost, and the box’s overall worth.  But I did try a few of these items out!

Hydromilk lotion: Okay this is actually a face and neck moisturizer.  BUT LIKE A GOT DAMN IDIOT I USED IT ON MY HANDS AND LEGS 😦  That’s what I get for not reading the back!  Now I understand its price tag a bit more.  It was nice as lotion, but I’m excited to try this out as a moisturizer.  I’ll update you!

Tarte Smolder Eyes in Gunmetal: I used this as an eyeliner today.  It’s a really nice cool tone bronzy color.  I was in a rush, so I didn’t get to really experiment with it yet but so far so good!  The only issue I see is that it’s a jumbo pencil (without a sharpener) but I’m hoping my Makeup Forever or Duwop sharpener works on it.

Chella Eyebrow Clear Gel:  I really like this.  It’s not too wet (I find the Anastasia clear brow to be a bit too wet) and it doesn’t end up crunchy.  A+

Vasanti Foundation Brush:  I was most excited about this brush & I really wanted to love it.  It’s strange but the bristles to me feel like…a paint brush.  I tried it as a foundation brush (I use Estee Lauder Doublewear which is pretty thick) and hated it with that.  But when I used it for my concealer, I liked it.  It’s not like angel hair on my under eyes, but I don’t hate it.  I will definitely continue to use this brush on different concealers and maybe even foundations to figure out its proper place in my makeup routine.

Nailwraps: I was least excited about these.  I’m really just not a fan of nail wraps.  There’s always a tiny little bit that sticks up so I end up getting antsy and rip them off within the hour.  I also paint my nails constantly because I get bored easily, so these just aren’t for me.

Thanks for stopping by & I hope to see you again soon!
Pssst..I think my next post will be swatches and review of Kathleenlight’s new Ofra liquid lipstick 🙂

Morphe 35T Palette Review and Swatches

So apparently I post roughly once per year…But I’d really like to start posting on here more often.  I’m in grad school & have a job so I don’t have a lot of free time but anyway…moving on.

Now before you say “another damn Morphe minion,” WAIT…just bare with me.  I was a full-blown skeptic.  I didn’t believe that you could buy 35 fantastic eyeshadows for $22.99.  I also get really worried when everyone on YouTube seems to be raving about something.  But I can assure you that Morphe’s hype is deserved.  Well well deserved.

For starters, the cost of the palette was $22.99 but I used Kathleenlights’ promo code and saved $2.30.  Shipping was $7.99.  Ya win some, ya lose some.  So the grand total was $28.68.  I’ve heard some people wait forever & a day for their orders to process and ship, but my order shipped the day after I ordered.  The total time between ordering & receiving was a week.

This palette is seriously beautiful especially if you are a taupe, gold, or mauve fan.  The shimmery shadows are no joke.  They are out of this world.  The mattes were lacking a bit in terms of pigmentation, but nothing unworkable.  But the TEXTURE is what got me.  It was like butter-ridiculously smooth & glided on so easily.  Anyways, I’ll let you check out the swatches now!  But it was 100% worth it.  I now want every one of their palettes so that’s the downside.  But if you’ve been skeptical, let down those walls and let Morphe 35T into your heart!

Lime Crime Cashmere Velvetine Review

So, I recently ordered Lime Crime’s Velvetine in the color “cashmere” as a Christmas present…for myself.  Velvetines are more or less liquid lipsticks that dry completely matte.  Anyways, when I first saw Lime Crime’s promo picture for this Velvetine I KNEW I needed it.  Need not want.

So here’s a mini-review/swatch since I haven’t really seen many reviews for this so far.

All I have to say about the packaging is: HOW CUTE CAN YOU POSSIBLY BE?!?  If it was acceptable to keep this box forever, I would.

Here it is swatched on my hand completely dry.  It’s described as a “greige” (gray beige), but it has a nice dusty rose tint to it which makes it easy to pull off.

And here it is swatched on my lips.

Overall, I love it.  I think it’s such a unique color and I don’t have anything like it in my collection.  When I first put this on, it sort of had a cupcake or frosting smell to it but the smell quickly faded (I liked the smell so I wouldn’t have minded if it lingered).  It’s definitely completely matte but it’s not excessively drying.  It felt pretty comfortable to me.  It lasts FOREVER too.  Basically, I love it and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of it.  These retail for $20 on but most of the Velvetines are currently sold out.  But when it comes back….BUY IT.
